The Marriage Preparation Course - March 7 - April 11, 2008

Engaged couples can obtain good training for a successful marriage from The Marriage Preparation Course being offered Friday evenings March 7 – April 11.

The course includes the FOCCUS inventory that provides couples a personalized profile of what is needed in their marriage preparation process. The course meets at 7:00 PM each Friday evening and, except for the first evening, includes dinner. The course cost is $95 and includes 5 dinners for 2, workbooks, the FOCCUS inventory, and individual discussion of the FOCCUS inventory results.

Online Giving Now Possible

Many in the church have asked to be able to give tithes and offerings with a credit or debit card, and that is now possible through the Anchorage City Church website "giving" page. On this page you will find a "donate" button for tithes and another for offerings. The offering button allows you to suggest a specific use for your contribution.

If you choose to contribute in this way, your tithes and offerings will be accounted for along with checks and cash in envelopes with your name in the end-of-the-year accounting for tax purposes.

We are now implementing a church management software package that when complete this spring will allow you to set up automatic recurring payments from your credit or debit card or bank account.

Recruitment for Children's Church Volunteers has Begun!

Ages 3 years to 6th Grade

We are starting Sunday school volunteer registration for the next semester that starts in March. We will be implementing Birthday Sundays in the classrooms which will be the last Sunday of each month. It will be a party day with movies, games and popcorn. We will be signing Birthday teams for each of the six classes.

Each team will be three people:
Food person
Game person
Party prep person (movie choice, cards sent out, decorations, etc)

During the 9am service we will only be operating two classes:
3 years -Kindergarten
1st – 6th grade class

So, Children’s Church volunteer needs are:
6 Primary Teachers
7-8 Aides
18 party team members

Church Fast is January 27th through February 16th

Our focus is to obtain a clear vista and empowerment for our destiny!
Joshua 3:5 – Joshua told the people “consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.”

This is a time for our congregation to be praying and fasting for God's direction, provision, health, wisdom and for us to hear and discern what our Heavenly Father is telling us. Pastor Irwin encourages all those in ACC’s congregation to participate in some way.

Some ways to fast:
Water only – no food
Daniel fast – Reference Daniel 10
Fasting specific meals
Fasting specified days
Liquid, juice, vegetable, fruit fast – avoid milkshakes
No television, internet
Note – Check with your doctor about health issues and how fasting would affect you regarding medications etc.

Fasting Particulars – Read Isa. 58, Daniel 9, Neh. 9: 1-3, Ps 35:13, Joel 2:12, Acts .13:2, Mt. 17:21 and Acts 14:23
· Consider taking the money you save on food and donating it to the Soup Kitchen. · One of the purposes of fasting is to spend time in prayer
· Make a prayer list
· Praise Him during your prayer time
· Ask God to expose your sin and to give you the grace for deliverance
· Journal daily things you learn from reading your Bible and what you hear while in prayer

Prayer suggestions:
· Pray for your ability to see and hear from God
· Pray for City Church to be in cadence with the direction of the Holy Spirit
· Pray for our City, State, Nation and other Nations
· Pray for our Military forces around the world
· Pray for our leadership and the elections
· Pray for specific agencies
· Pray for economic growth in every arena – blessing!
· Pray for the Body of Christ, specifically unity
· Pray for families
· Pray for miracles of all kinds
· Pray for people to become followers of Jesus Christ
· Pray for God to show you what your function in ministry is

The church Prayer room will be open from 5:30-7:30pm daily during the fast – we will have specific prayer focuses during that time.

On Sunday, February 17th we will have a share a dish after the 11:00 service.

Be Prepared for the Inevitable

ACC has put together a resource called the Survivorship Packet for people to leave behind for their loves ones. This packet includes resources such as a location sheet that tells where important documents are, Funeral arrangement instructions, an "Organizing your Estate" worksheet and many other valuable forms that can ease the stress of those making decisions. This is offered to our congregation through our resource books and music center located at the information counter for $2.

Share a Dish Monthly Potluck is Feb 17th

Come have a rip-roaring good time as we fellowship, share a dish and conclude the Church fast. We will be able to share testimonies as to how God spoke to us, and the things He did for us during our fast.

We will also have children and family games for entertainment. Please bring your dish to share, along with a dessert. ACC will provide the drinks.

Vote in the Primary on February 5th!!!

February 5th is "Super Tuesday" when over 20 states will hold primary elections. This is a huge day in determining who our nominees will be. Alaska's voting is from 4:30 - 8:30pm on Feb. 5th at the Egan Center for Anchorage area Republicans (except district 21), and the Democratic party will be at Begich Middle School at 5:00pm.

Please check the state party websites foryour specific voting district instructions. Remember to pray for our legislative session which just began this week.

Prepare for life together with The Marriage Preparation Course

Prepare for a successful married life together with the Marriage Preparation Course this March at Anchorage City Church.

This six-session Friday evening course starts March 7 and includes dinner, fast moving talks, and skill exercises (no sharing required). There is also a FOCCUS inventory that couples have found very useful in finding important areas for additional discussion.
