The Gathering Event - May 3rd

The Gathering Event
May 3rd
Come celebrate Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month at “The Gathering”, Saturday May 3rd at the Park Strip in downtown Anchorage. Bikers can meet at 10am here at City Church to line up for a parade through town as they head to the Park Strip. Registration will take place in front of City Church and all riders who participate in the parade must be registered and sign a waiver.

While down at the Park Strip, see Veterans group “Rolling Thunder” and Governor Palin will read her proclamation declaring the beginning of the motorcycle riding season, and officials from the Mayor's office will be on hand to read the Mayoral proclamation! We will also be selling Bike Blessing T-shirts for $15 and patches for $8 down at the strip.

This event is sponsored by ABATE of Alaska and the AMCDA groups House of Harley Davidson, The Motorcycle Shop, Anchorage Yamaha, Alaska Cycle Center and Anchorage Suzuki Shop. After the Gathering, make sure to head to the House of Harley Davidson on Spenard Road for their open house.

May 4th is Biker Sunday

Attention Motorcycle Riders...

Please invite your friends and family members who love to ride the open road. We will be having Biker Sunday during both services. See ACC members ride their bikes into the auditorium, hear a bit on Motorcycle awareness, find out about the ACC Motorcycle Ministry and enjoy some pastries at the Biker reception table.

Mrs. Alaska 2008!

Hello, this is Aaron Gray, worship pastor here at City Church. I am very pleased to inform you of an exciting development in the Gray family as well as the City Church community. This past Saturday, April 26th, my wife of 7 years, Erin Lynn, was crowned as Mrs. Alaska 2008 in the Mrs. United States pageant system. Our whole family is extremely proud of her and excited for the opportunities that this will bring for her.

Please keep her and our family in your prayers as we prepare for the Mrs. United States national competition this upcoming July. I know that my wife is very excited to represent not only herself and other married women, but specifically Anchorage City Church. We absolutely love our church family and are so proud to be a part of such a wonderful community.

You can view her bio at http://www.mrsak.com/ or check out her new blog at http://mrsak08.blogspot.com/. God bless!

Springfest and Bike Blessing Still On but Note Changes

Despite the impressive snowfall on Friday, April 25, Springfest (Friday evening) and the Bike Blessing (Saturday morning) will go on.

There are no changes to the plans for Springfest, but we do recommend allowing extra travel time because of the slushy roads. Starts at 6pm and goes to midnight. $10 cover charge. 8 artists and 6 bands, 3 stages.

The Bike Blessing is still on for Saturday morning but with some changes. We expect the roads to be un-ridable by motorcycle, but we’re encouraging people to attend the event portion that will be indoors and consider it a kickoff for the motorcycle season, enjoying the live band, food vendors and proclamations by Governor Palin and Senator Murkowski and a prayer blessing. It all starts at 10am and goes until 1pm, with the program beginning at 11am.

Part 2 is next weekend’s event by ABATE of Alaska, called the Gathering at the Downtown Park Strip on May 3rd. Bikers can meet at City Church at 10am to line up for the group parade to the park strip for the Mayoral proclamation for Motorcycle Awareness month and there will be a blessing of the bikes there as well. Have fun and be safe!
