Despite the impressive snowfall on Friday, April 25, Springfest (Friday evening) and the Bike Blessing (Saturday morning) will go on.
There are no changes to the plans for Springfest, but we do recommend allowing extra travel time because of the slushy roads. Starts at 6pm and goes to midnight. $10 cover charge. 8 artists and 6 bands, 3 stages.
The Bike Blessing is still on for Saturday morning but with some changes. We expect the roads to be un-ridable by motorcycle, but we’re encouraging people to attend the event portion that will be indoors and consider it a kickoff for the motorcycle season, enjoying the live band, food vendors and proclamations by Governor Palin and Senator Murkowski and a prayer blessing. It all starts at 10am and goes until 1pm, with the program beginning at 11am.
Part 2 is next weekend’s event by ABATE of Alaska, called the Gathering at the Downtown Park Strip on May 3rd. Bikers can meet at City Church at 10am to line up for the group parade to the park strip for the Mayoral proclamation for Motorcycle Awareness month and there will be a blessing of the bikes there as well. Have fun and be safe!
